Quarantine: what I'm up to
In early March 2020, I was casually roaming Washington, DC on breaks from studying for midterms and getting ready to go on a spring break trip. Life was simple and fun. With COVID-19 rapidly evolving, school was soon moved online and I quickly said goodbye to my friends. Now, I am still back home in Ohio and trying to find productive ways to spend my time.
It has been easy to think negatively and dwell on all that is wrong with the world. Although currently, I am trying to go a different route and find what I truly want to do with my life. Is it fashion? Is it marketing? Is it PR? Or maybe politics? Honestly, I HAVE NO CLUE and I’ve felt pretty down on myself for not being able to get my thoughts together. Now more than ever, it is important for me to tap back into my creative side. Here are some things I’m doing to attempt to calm my mind and have a little fun. Maybe this could be inspo or ideas for you too.
1. Revamp this website: I started this blog back in 2018 right before my freshman year of college. I loved it, but didn’t have the time or energy to put in the work to make it what I wanted it to be. I archived old posts and am excited to make this place a flow of my ideas and content! Be ready to see things from fashion, food, school, trends, beauty, and really anything I’m into at the moment.
2. Further my education: This summer I am taking the Parsons x Complex Streetwear Essentials Class. Streetwear is something my wardrobe has evolved into over the past few years. Moving from a small town in the Midwest to a diverse city like DC has only made me more interested in this growing business. One day I hope to have a brand of my own, and want to take this time to learn from some of the best in the business. Who knows…. maybe I’ll finally be able to put my ideas into clothing designs?
3. Get back into art: Growing up I was in love with painting, drawing, and really all things art. I continued this love through high school where I took drawing and painting classes for fun. It was therapeutic and also a way to put my ideas onto paper. There are quite a few paintings around my house that need fixing and many blank canvases in my basement from past uncompleted projects. My mind definitely needs the break, so this is a perfect way for me to get back into a creative hobby I have lost. We will see if it turns out well, but even if it doesn’t, at least I did something productive instead of sitting on Instagram for even longer. Here is some of my inspo:
Lastly, and definitely easier said than done (with quarantine snacking at its all time high) …
4. Get Healthy: In all aspects. Mind, body, and soul. Eat well, spend time with loved ones, get back into fitness, and work on articulating my thoughts to create positive impacts. This is a perfect time to work on the things I have pushed aside and become even more ready for the outside world when it’s back to normal!
Hope you are all staying healthy and safe during this crazy time. WEAR A MASK! xoxo
